Why is it that people judge a book by its cover
Never stopping to take time to discover another
Only seeing the outward expression they show
What deep down they feel we never will know

If just for a moment we stopped now and then
In the eye of a stranger we may find a friend
But how will we know if we don’t stop to look
And in the first instant we in judgement partook

To pass by another what matters our valour
We laugh, cry and bleed no matter our colour
And if our true love we miss what a shame
For someone not us I’m sure is to blame

Beneath the surface our true self does hide
To avoid getting hurt it gets cover in pride
By others not seen it’s surrounded by walls
Sometimes I wonder who knows us at all
