I remember when I was little
and I needed help to make the swing go
I would call out ‘swing me, swing me’
Soon I grew and I learnt to make it swing

I remember the seats were wooden
We would stand up on the seat
and swing until you touch the sky
and drop back down to earth again

As years passed by they change the swings
to rubber seats and you couldn’t stand up any more
I remember I stopped swinging on the swings
I got to big to play like a child.

Now I’m the one who hears the call
I’m the one who pushes the swing
I listen to the happy cheers
as my child goes back and forth

I long to be young
I wish for my youth
and for lazy days
when I can swing once more
